Vintage Softball in Canterbury New Zealand Now Rescheduled
March 2013
In association with the Canterbury Softball Association, Vintage Softball is delighted to advise that the next World Vintage Softball Carnival will now be staged in Canterbury, New Zealand between Monday, March 11th and Sunday, March 17th , 2013.
To be played at the fabulous complex at Mainland Foundation Ballpark in Canterbury, the 2013 Carnival will feature Fast Pitch and Slow Pitch competition for teams and players over the age of 35 who continue to enjoy their sport, playing teams from all parts of the Softball world in excellent conditions at outstanding facilities.
All teams will be carefully graded according to their average age and their self-assessment of playing strength. These gradings will be carefully checked at the conclusion of Day One of competition and if necessary teams will be regraded to suit their age grouping and their ability.
All teams will play 2 grading games, 6 round robin games and 1 final game during the Carnival. Games will be of 90 minutes duration with overtime available to complete innings as necessary.
Mens and Womens Fastpitch and Mens, Womens and Co-ed Slowpitch will be available with 4 days play, 1 social day and plenty of spare time to enjoy the delights of Canterbury and surrounding regions.
The Opening Function at National Marae will include a Maori Welcome, a Hangi Meal and great entertainment. Finale Function and Prize-Giving to be hosted by Canterbury Softball Association at the Ballpark Complex.
Details of packages and accommodation options are now available. We will be delighted to welcome teams to Canterbury, one of New Zealand’s loveliest regions and particularly to Mainland Foundation Ballpark, undoubtedly one of New Zealand’s finest Softball facilities.
