2011 TOURNAMENT POSTPONED
Unfortunately we have been forced to cancel the planned Vintage
Slowpitch Carnival scheduled for April next year.
There are a number of factors that have led to the decision:
- We have had many requests from teams asking for more time to fundraise between Carnivals.
- We have been advised that 2011 conflicted with other regional Tournaments and that 2012 would suit more teams.
- Many of our core teams despite voting for Vancouver
(overwhelmingly) to be the next venue have advised that it is too far
for them to travel.
- We have also had comment from teams that they felt that
Vancouver was an expensive destination and though our prices were
considered to be fair, there is concern about the costs once teams
arrive.
After taking advice from many of our regular teams we have decided to
postpone the Vintage Softball Carnivals until 2012 and to investigate
alternative venues. We expect to advise the new dates and venues as soon
as possible. The details will reflect the requests and advice we
received.
It is unfortunate as the facilities in the City of Surrey, Vancouver are
outstanding and would have been greatly enjoyed. The local Committee
were extremely well organized and have expressed interest in being part
of our future program. Although we are not able to commit to the City of
Surrey in the near future we will be back at some time in the future.
In the meantime Vintage Softball would like to acknowledge the
assistance of Jim Ullock, Rick Benson, Murray Gage-Cole and their
committee.
We will be back to you as soon as we can with the new venue and dates for 2012.
Thank you for all the feedback and support for the events. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any queries or comments.
